Hey Band members! We'll be having BBQ @ West Coast Park on 30th Dec 2009, after band practice.
Everything has yet to be confirm because I need to know how many people are going before I book the pits.
Confirm with your SL if you're going or not and SL will inform Sheytene.
SL, please confirm the no. of people going to Sheytene by this Sunday, (13/12/2009).

I won't be in Singapore from 19th to 27th December so please don't contact me.
Sheytene will be the main in charge for this BBQ.

Committee members, please plan a time to discuss things with Sheytene.

Best is to meet outside to discuss. (Y)

All members who are going for the BBQ, bring along your own disposable utensils so as to cut cost.

For tomorrow, Saturday (28th Nov 2009):

All to report by 08.30am, SHARP.
Committee members including SLs to report to the band room by 8am, SHARP.
Attire, Green Band Tee and School Bottoms (Skirts for Girls, Trouses/Pants for Guys)
NO PE SHORTS ARE ALLOWED.
Latecomers will be punished.
Keep the Band room clean at all times.
BRING ALONG NEWSPAPER FOR BRASSES,
SO THAT YOU CAN EMPTY YOUR SALIVA ON IT.

First few things to do and not to do when you reach the band room,

Set up your instrument using the minimal amount of time.
Don't sit down and start chit chatting while
setting up the instrument or even after setting up.

Pick up a broom and start sweeping the band room, or just pick up the rubbish.
Arrange the files neatly and put unwanted files in the store room.
Make sure you know where's the exact location you put the files. Don't lose it.
Also, if there are extra stands, leave it in the store room.
All bags to be placed in the store room too. Keep the store room neat :)
Put the shoes neatly outside the band room.
Arrange the chairs properly.
If anyone is seen doing nothing and chit chatting or chasing one another
in the band room, you'll be punished duly.
After everything is done, settle down and warm up and tune to one another.

Don't think you all wish to let people see a dirty band room right? Take initiative. It's everyone's duty to keep the band room clean. Not the sections that are suppose to do the duty on that particular day.

Members, I put the songs on the band blog is so that you all can listen to it and refer to your scores so that you all at least have an idea of the songs we will be/ are playing.
I didn't put the songs here to make the band blog livelier.
So please listen to the songs and refer to the scores. Look out for your parts.
When we play the songs, it's quite clear who actually took the effort to listen to the music on the band blog and try to figure out the parts and practice it.

Nothing is impossible. It's only if you're willing to do it or not. Summon the courage to play.
We're almost there but didn't reach what we wanted. Everyone, just a little more effort, and we'll be there. :)

Musical notes glowing in the dark, they can shine. So can we.

To all band members:

Wear P.E shirt + P.E shorts/ Band tee + P.E shorts on Friday (13/11/2009).
No skirts are allowed. (For girls)
Report to the band room by 8.30am, SHARP.
There'll be 2 hours of sectional, followed by 2 hours of drills.
Band will still end @ 1pm.
Leave the school as soon as possible after you all are dismissed.
Do your duties after every band practice and keep the band room clean.
Both feets on the ground to sit half the chair at all times.
Why do we need to have both feets on the ground and sit half the chair?
This is so that you all will cultivate the habit of sitting in the right way for better breathing techniques.

During sectional, practice Heatherwood and Prince Of Egypt as much as possible. Nothing is too difficult. It's only if you all are willing to sight read and improve on your own or to sit and wait for people to teach. Apply what you've learnt from other songs and put it into use for the other songs. You all have to learn by yourself and I believe you all can do it. Just try, don't hesitate. Don't procrastinate. Believe in yourself. Give your all when you play and even when you get scolding, it's perfectly all right because at least you will be able to learn from your mistakes than to keep those mistakes buried and you'll never know where you've gone wrong. Band members of YCCB are strong and courageous people right!? :D Work hard and it will definitely pay off! Believe. Believe, just believe.

At least 1h 30min of sectional.
Everyone is to abide this rule except for those with valid reasons.
After sectional, make sure that the band room and instrument room is locked properly.
Keep the band room neat and tidy after every session too! :D

Seniors are to be with juniors to guide them and the keys will be handed over to the seniors if sectionals were to be held. BIG HELLO to all band mates!
decided to update to make this blog alive!

okay firstly, SYF Gala!
practice hard on your SYF pieces to perform for the SYF Gala.
you all got at least 2-3 days to practice the songs. it's not so long but better than nothing.
YOU ALL CAN DO IT! :D

secondly, VESTS!
i've been reminding so many times to bring your vests but some
people still forgets. i still got a few more vests which have not been returned.
PLEASE return your vests, give it to the QM by this week! thank you.

Heys bandmates!

I won't say that much, but yeah.. I will say at least few sentences. hehe.

Good job to all Yuan Ching Concert Band musicians! :D

It's not because of our performance, but it's because you all put in much effort together to play beautiful music.

I'm proud of you guys for your team effort.

Now you all should know why working together as a team is important right?

I'm going to step down soon. So, I want you all to work harder and strive better results.

We may get Bronze for syf but it doesn't mean we're not good right?

I have confidence in all of you and I know that all of you are good musicians with great conductor and teachers.

There are still many opportunities ahead waiting for you all. Don't worry okays?

Stand up tall and challenge yourself. Play together in the band. Don't lose that focus and momentum. It's never too late to get better in your playing and moral thinking.

All that you have learnt from the seniors, ex-seniors,conductor and teachers... always keep it in ur mind.

Since SYF 2009 is over, let's talk about future. For now, all of you should rest well and take care of your health.

Woah!!! It's been one month plus since I update this band bloggy.

I'm really sorry for not updating.

What can I do...I'm already sec4... very very busy...hehe.

Time flies so fast, isn't it?

Here comes SYF again as in for the sec 4s.

It's a great experience participating in SYF.

The hours of practice that we need to put in....

The sacrifice...

It's like everything.

It's like a test for the whole band.

& of course, it's very challenging.

Oh..whatever it is...

All of us need to put in the EFFORT.

That's important.

Talking about SYF...

We left a few more days till our BIG DAY!!!

To be more precise, only two days left.

No worries. Just relax members.

Don't need to be so tense.

HEY!!! it's been awhile since this crazzzyyy band major update this craazzzzyy blog! haha -.-

Here are few announcements for you all to take note.

1. SYF REHEARSAL

To all SYF band performers,
*TAKE NOTE there will be a rehearsal on this coming Wednesday, 25 February .
Report straight to the band room by 7.10am.
Be early. Earlier the better as we can warm-up & do tuning together as a whole band.
Those who borrowed instrument home, please remember to bring it on that day.
No need to bring books as the rehearsal will take up the whole day.
Bring jacket or sweater as it will be very cold there.

2. Band Practice

To all band members including sec ones,
band practice will resume on this coming Friday, 27 February, 3pm - 6pm

SYF is coming. Just be calm. Work on your parts & always keep on trying no matter what.
If unsure about anything, always ask your seniors. They will certainly help you .
I know every single one of you can do it. Jiayou!! See you all soon. :D
